Draya Madú is a Mexican muralist, illustrator and fine art artist leaving in the Southeast of Mexico, mother of two, her learning was self-taught since childhood as a way of scaping trauma and constant stress due to family issues. She has the conviction that art can be used as a powerful tool for social change. An artivist by conviction, inspiring most of her work in the nowadays topics, she has painted murals for organizations whose main priorities are human rights and environmental issues. She has taken part in international mural and public art festivals in México, Perú and Colombia, as well as in group exhibitions in different galleries around Mexico. She is interested in the impact that emotions and actions have in people’s lives. Part of her inspiration is based on the complexity of the human being and the struggle to manifest it’s feelings in society that’s why streetart became part of her interest due to the social impact it can have when expose to the public on a vast open street gallery. The recurrent themes in her paintings are motherhood, children, nature and animals, sometimes in magical backgrounds with a little touch of surrealism. Her palette includes pastel grayish colours to the very bright ones.
